October 1998 - Midwest Energy, Inc., a Kansas-based rural electric cooperative, announced that it will offer a green service option as one component of a customer choice program that it plans to implement. Pending approval from the Kansas Corporation Commission, customers will be able to choose between their current rate structure and alternative pricing options, including green power options, weatherproof options, and other choices. Midwest is teaming with Environmental Futures, Inc. of Boston, MA to design and implement the program. No information is yet available on the nature of the green power product to be offered.
