December 1997 - Foresight Energy Company reports that it has contracted to deliver roughly 20 MW of its Eco-PowerTM product to power wholesalers in California, enough to service the power demands of approximately 25,000 residential users. Customers will pay a 10-15% premium for this environmentally-preferable power.
September 1997 - Foresight Energy Company, with asssistance from Northwest Environmental Advocates (NWEA), a Portland, Oregon-based environmental advocacy group, has developed its Eco-PowerTM environmentally-preferable electricity product. The majority of power supplied is expected to be generated from wind, geothermal, solar, and biomass resources with the remaining power coming from natural gas and hydro. Foresight plans to market its Eco-PowerTM product in California, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maine, and New Hampshire beginning in January 1998.
