Greenmountain.Com Signs Kinko's For Cleaner Electricity

Kinko's Leads Growing Business Trend, Supporting Renewable Energy by Switching to a Cleaner Energy Service Provider

SOUTH BURLINGTON, VT — November 2, 1999 — GreenMountain.com announced today that Kinko's has selected Green Mountain Energysm as its energy service provider. Leading the developing business trend to address environmental impact, Kinko's has signed an agreement with GreenMountain.com to purchase cleaner electricity in both California and Pennsylvania, two of the earliest states to participate in energy deregulation. Over 75 California-based Kinko's stores and several Pennsylvania-based Kinko's branches will switch to Green Mountain Energysm's cleaner electricity blends. Switching to a cleaner energy service provider supports the use of renewable energy and fights air pollution because generating electricity is the leading industrial cause of air pollution and a major contributor to global warming. Green Mountain Energysm's electricity blends are dramatically cleaner than typical California and Pennsylvania power.

"Kinko's commitment to the environment is apparent in its corporate initiatives, and we're delighted that they have chosen GreenMountain.com as their energy provider," said Dennis Kelly, president and chief executive officer for GreenMountain.com. "By choosing our cleaner energy blends Kinko's is making a significant statement about their commitment to reducing air pollution and taking a leading role in corporate environmental business practices."

Kinko's environmental initiatives include a commitment to not knowingly purchase wood or paper products derived from the harvesting of old-growth forests. Kinko's offers 38 different recycled paper stocks, and has retrofitted more than 800 branches with energy-efficient lighting.

"By using GreenMountain.com, Kinko's is demonstrating a commitment to reducing its environmental footprint," said Larry Rogero, Kinko's environment manager. "Our goal is to lessen the impact Kinko's exerts on the environment, while simultaneously providing the products and services valued by our customers. Kinko's Environmental Vision Statement explicitly states that we will 'use energy-efficient technologies and renewable energy sources'. During the last months of the 20th Century we've made a decision that brings us a step closer to realizing this Vision. For the sake of future generations, hopefully others will join us in making this a much more common decision during the 21st Century."

Over 100,000 residential customers and nearly 1,200 commercial customers in California and Pennsylvania have chosen to support cleaner electricity generation by switching to GreenMountain.com. The Company adds Kinko's to its growing list of large commercial customers who have selected Green Mountain Energysm in order to fight air pollution and climate change. Those business leaders include respected brand names such as Birkenstock and Real Goods Trading Corporation.
