Large Purchasers of Green Power

Bank of New York Mellon

September 2009 - The Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Green Power Partnership recently recognized Bank of New York Mellon (BNY Mellon), a global leader in asset management and securities servicing, for the company's purchase of more than 96 million kilowatt-hours of green power from NextEra Energy Resources and Pepco Energy Services. The purchase is equivalent to nearly one third of the organization's domestically purchased electricity use. BNY Mellon was ranked #37 on EPA's National Top 50 purchaser list.

In addition, two of BNY Mellon's three commercial office buildings in downtown Pittsburgh are Energy Star-certified and the company has applied for Gold LEED CI-certification for recent renovations to a portion of BNY Mellon Center.
