State of Rhode Island

April 2004 - Governor Donald Carcieri announced that the Rhode Island State Energy Office has committed to purchase enough green power to meet all of the electricity needs of the State House for the next five years. The purchase, equivalent to the output of one large wind turbine, will cost an estimated $210,000, which will be paid through monies provided by the Rhode Island Renewable Energy Fund. The State Energy Office will issue a competitive solicitation for the renewable energy supply.
